New vote counting machines will be used in election

Duxbury is getting new vote tabulation machines, thanks to both a town meeting appropriation and a recent vote of the Board of Selectmen to declare the old machines surplus.

At the annual Town Meeting in March, voters approved $42,500 to buy seven new digital scan precinct tabulator machines.

These counting machines are the ones residents slip their ballots into after they have cast their votes. 

Last week, selectmen voted to authorize Town Clerk Susan Kelley to buy the new machines, and they declared the old ballot readers surplus so she could trade them in.
