To find the definition of “homegrown,” it’s not necessary to look farther than the newest members of the Duxbury Police Department as five of the eight officers sworn in Monday night were born and raised in town.
At a ceremony during the Board of Selectmen’s meeting Monday night, Duxbury Police Chief Matthew Clancy introduced four new full-time police officers, one part-time officer and announced the promotion of two current officers – one to the rank of lieutenant and one to sergeant. A new full-time member of the Duxbury Harbormaster Department was also introduced to an audience filled with proud family members and friends.
The police officers are replacing officers who have recently retired. There are a total of 29 full-time officers in Duxbury.
